Feed, Weed & Mosskiller - All Questions

sort-ascending
I've got an area that I've prepared for sowing wildflowers, but the main lawn area needs weed and feed applied (which I've already bought from you). Do I need to wait two weeks before sowing the wildflower seeds even though I won't be treating the area that I'm sowing them in? If so, is it still OK to sow wildflowers in mid-October? Thanks.
Question by: Philip on 1 Oct 2021, 10:18
Hi Philip, ideally you wouldn't want to add a fertiliser to the area prior to sowing wildflower seeds. Feed, Weed & Mosskiller does have a fertilising aspect which lasts up to 6 weeks. Wildflowers much prefer low nutrient soils. There are two times in the year that we recommend sowing a meadow, one is spring and the other is autumn, so if you wish to do it this year you are in good time. Autumn is an ideal time because the seeds need to undergo the process of stratification (a freeze) to kick start their germination. If you were to sow the seed now, nothing will happen until next spring, early in the season. If you decide to wait until next year and sow in the spring, then your meadow will flower in the summer.

Does this product kill bind weed, doc leaves and thistles that we have growing in the lawn?

Thanks

Hi Matthew, this particular product doesn't contain any seeds so it won't add anything new to your lawn.

Below is a list of weeds that the Feed, Weed and Mosskiller treats.
Common Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale)
Creeping Buttercup (Ranunculus repens)
Creeping Cinquefoil (Potentilla reptans)
Daisy (Bellis perennis)
Greater Plantain (Plantago major)
Lesser Trefoil (Trifolium dubium)
Mouse-ear Chickweed (Cerastium fontanum subsp. Vulgare)
Ribwort Plantain (Plantago lanceolata)
Selfheal (Prunella vulgaris)
Thyme-leaved Speedwell (Veronica serpyllifolia)
White Clover (Trifolium Repens)
Bird’s Foot Trefoil (Lotus corniculatus)
Large or perennial weeds may re-grow.

When is the best time to use feed, weed, and moss killer? And is it best to aerate lawn before or after use?
Question by: John Blackburn on 8 Mar 2022, 15:53
Thanks for your enquiry. You should aerate your lawn in the weeks leading up to using the Feed, Weed & Mosskiller, but this product can only be used on an established lawn that is 6+ months old.

using a Scotts Evergreen drop spreader, which setting is the equivalent for delivery of Coburns Restore Pro at the rate of 32g per square metre?
Question by: M Gillman on 15 Mar 2022, 10:38
Hi, thank you for your question. For the Scotts Evergreen Drop Spreader, we recommend setting 6 for our Feed, Weed & Moss Killer. Please note that the recommended setting is for guidance only, and we can not be 100% accurate as we did not manufacture the spreader.

I have an Evergreen/Scotts Wizz battery applicator. Do you have any idea of the correct setting I should use for this product?
Question by: Ian Bucklow on 15 Mar 2022, 13:12
Hi, thanks for your question. We are not sure of the setting of this particular spreader, and we have researched this. Setting 5.75 (spread twice) seems correct, but we can't be 100% sure. Please note that the recommendation is for guidance only, and we can not be 100% accurate as we did not manufacture the spreader.

As mentioned below, the product is branded Coburns, and is labelled as "Restore Pro". Please could you confirm that this is the same product as the Feed, Weed and Mosskiller above, and that reseeding is possible two weeks after application, rather than six weeks as stated in the instructions on the bag?
Question by: James on 26 Mar 2022, 17:58
Thank you for your question. I can confirm The Restore Pro is the same product as Feed, Weed & Mosskiller.

You can confidently sow grass seed two weeks after application after the granules have been fully dissolved and watered in. I hope this helps, and apologies for any confusion.

hello i really like the look of your selection and will defo be getting the lawn seed for clay soil types as that's what I have, but when it comes to feed I am struggling i really like the look of the organic one you have but also torn by the 3 in one feed that does feed , moss and weeds …. which one would you recommend please ???
Question by: nicholas brown on 28 Mar 2022, 19:24
Thank you for your question. If you have any weeds and moss, you may wish to consider treating them with our Feed, Weed and Moss Killer product. It works over two weeks to treat weeds and moss, and this will also feed your lawn and make any existing grass very green and lush.

Whereas REVIVE: Organic 365 Fertiliser is our regular organic fertiliser. When applied to the soil, the microbes that are already in the soil begin to break down the fertiliser pellets, and the nutrients penetrate through the soil. It will nourish the soil and also build up its tolerance to drought and disease, and creates a healthy lush lawn. Because it is made up of organic material, it minimises the risk of scorching the grass.

I would suggest choosing a fertiliser that is most suited to your garden's needs!

Hi, thanks for your interest in this product. We, unfortunately, wouldn't advise the use of this product around horses.

We would suggest speaking to an agricultural merchant to find out the best fertilisers to use around horses.
