Product Description carrat-down

Our Feed, Weed & Mosskiller is the complete fertiliser solution for a tired and weathered lawn that is being held hostage by weeds and moss! This fertiliser acts in three noticeable steps – moss shrinks and dies off and can be easily raked away and weeds quickly disappear by being killed at the root. Existing grass becomes vibrantly and instantly green, revealing areas ready for reseeding.

After application, we recommend waiting 2 weeks before planning to seed. This ensures your fertiliser has adequate time to take effect and complete its full process – killing off moss and weeds, and sufficiently feeding your lawn. Patches will appear where moss and weeds have been killed off, these areas will require reseeding. This product should only be used on an established lawn (6 months + old)

Please note this fertiliser can scorch your grass blades, so remember to water it off or apply just before the rain is due. Avoid application during very hot periods. We recommend applying on cooler evenings or overcast days. For more information on all things fertiliser, read our Fertiliser FAQs.

All our grass seed mixes have the highest levels of purity, offer the best germination rates, and grow better than seeds you will find elsewhere. We are so confident that our Grass Seed Growth Guarantee covers all our seeds!

Usage Guide carrat-down

Apply only on an established lawn (6 months + old)
Apply our fertiliser at the recommended rate by hand when wearing a glove or spreader
Water the fertiliser in until it dissolves
Keep kids and pets away from the lawn during application and until the granules dissolve
Remove / water off any footwear you were wearing during the application of the fertiliser to avoid any risk of damage to newly laid patios / stone flag flooring

Not watering your fertiliser in can potentially scorch existing grass or delay the benefits of the fertiliser. If after watering the fertiliser does not disappear and dissolve off the surface, water until you cannot see the granules.

Use March - October
Spreading Rate 32 grams per m2
Watering  This fertiliser MUST be watered in - granules should not be visible after application if watered in suffciently.

Aftercare carrat-down

Allow the product to work over two weeks before overseeding patches

Product Questions

How effective would this be at treating clover?
Question by: Alan on 8 Mar 2021, 08:47
Hi Alan

The Feed, Weed & Mosskiller will treat White Clover (Trifolium Repens)
Answer by: Roisin McCann on 8 Mar 2021, 11:58

How often can this product be used, is there any minimum period between applications.

Question by: Nigel Evans on 1 Jul 2021, 13:21
Hi Nig

The feed and moss killing aspect takes up to two weeks to take effect and the fertiliser will continue to feed the garden for up to six weeks. Once this time is up you can reapply if required.
Answer by: Roisin McCann on 2 Jul 2021, 07:18
Keeping pets and children off the lawn is easy.My concern is other wildlife. My garden is visited by hedgehogs and wood mice, not to mention the blackbirds probing for worms. What would be your advice using this product under these circumstances ?
Question by: Michael on 5 Mar 2021, 20:06
Hi Michael

We would always advise that you air on the side of caution, if you are not confident that the wildlife won't be around for the 2 weeks then I would not apply.
Answer by: Roisin McCann on 8 Mar 2021, 10:55
Hi I bought the bag of this in March, used it to great effect but have loads left. I have since used pre seed fertiliser having over seeded. I don’t intend to put a separate spring summer fertiliser down now but am thinking about what to use in autumn- can this be used now and then throughout autumn / winter for the feed content even though there is little weeds/ moss left? If so What quantity and how often?

Thanks very much
Question by: Steven Stewart on 6 Jul 2021, 06:39
Hi Steven

Whilst it does have a fertiliser, this wouldn't be a product we would recommend applying if you are not planning on treating weeds or moss. All our fertilisers will last up to 4 years, if stored in a sealed bag somewhere cool and dry, so you can use it again. The composition of the winter fertilisers is designed to strengthen and harden the grass whilst protecting against winter borne diseases.
Answer by: Roisin McCann on 6 Jul 2021, 08:24
Hi should I scarify the lawn before applying the feed weed and moss killer or after?
Question by: Kevin on 13 Sept 2023, 14:40
Hi, thank you for your question.

You don't have to scarify prior to treatment. However, you will need to a few weeks after application and once the weeds and moss have been treated.
Answer by: Roisin McCann (Admin) on 13 Sept 2023, 14:56
Is it best to not mow before applying this? And can I put topsoil over it after 2 weeks? My garden is 70% weeds & moss plus very uneven and hard ground so planning a complete overhaul!
Question by: Christina on 14 Sept 2023, 15:23
Thank you for your question, You don't have to mow prior to application and once the two weeks are up and the weeds and moss have been cleared you can go ahead with any seeding.
Answer by: Roisin McCann (Admin) on 15 Sept 2023, 07:55
Can I disolve the granules in water then usea sprayer to apply
Question by: Kevin Jones on 20 May 2021, 18:20
Hi Kevin,

Unfortunately not and we strongly recommend that you stick to the usage guidelines. If you dissolve prior to application there is no way to measure the amount of product that is applied per m2.
Answer by: Roisin McCann on 21 May 2021, 14:53
How long should I wait after applying before seeding with clay seed and topsoil?
Question by: Olivia Louise Halvorsen-Gordon on 15 Apr 2024, 16:23
Hi there,

This treatment lasts over 6 weeks. I would advise waiting until the six weeks have passed before planning to do any seeding. Let the moss and weeds die off, scarify out the dead material then continue with your seeding process when this time has passed.

I hope this helps

Many Thanks

How does this affect plants in adjoining boarders of fruit trees in lawns. I previously used a similar product and it took the tree 2 years to recover :(
Question by: Steve on 14 Jun 2022, 09:26
Hi Steve, thank you for your question. We have looked into this with our fertiliser expert, who informed us that there should be no adverse effects on trees or, specifically, the fruit from trees.
