QUICK RELEASE: Pre - Seed Fertiliser - All Questions

sort-ascending
It's September and I'm about to renovate my lawn, scarifying and overseeding. Is this OK to use prior to overseeding at this time of year, or would I be better with the Autumn/Winter quick release? I also have fruit trees in my lawn, is it OK to use?

Hi Greg, thank you for your question.

You can apply all of our fertilisers before or after seeding, except for our QUICK RELEASE: Pre-Seed fertiliser, along with our Feed, Weed and Moss Killer. Both of these products should both be used before seeding.

If applying fertiliser before seeding, you can sow the grass seed once the fertiliser granules have fully dissolved, unlike our Weed killer, where you should wait two weeks for the treatment to take effect.

If applying fertiliser after seeding, it would be fine to use it 6 weeks after seeding when your new grass is hitting blade heights of 5-7cm and has had its first mow. Our Feed, Weed and Moss killer should not be applied to lawns under six months old.

Our fertilisers, if used around trees, should not cause any adverse effects to the trees and the fruit in the trees.

I’m about to use your fertiliser based on 70g per m2. Can you advise me on what setting to use on my Scott’s spreader.
Thank you

Hi James, what model is the spreader?

Hello - I've completely re-seeded a large part of my lawn with your superstar back-lawn seed and your pre-seed fertiliser (fully dissolved before seeding). How soon after can I add your slow release fertiliser to this area, to further strengthen the grass? While most is long and lush, there are patches where it is thin and has started yellowing at the ends, and would like to give it the best chance to withstand the winter. Thanks!

Hi, we would recommend waiting until the garden is fully established and at least six weeks after applying the Pre Seed before applying another fertiliser. We would also suggest holding off on applying anything to the garden during December and January as the ground is usually frozen.

Hi what number should I put my evergreen drop spreader at when putting your preseed fertiliser down thanks Chris

Thank you for your question

We would recommend setting Setting 12.5 x 3 passes for the QUICK RELEASE: Pre - Seed Fertiliser. Please note that the recommended setting is for guidance only and we can not be 100% accurate as we did not manufacture the spreader. Always be cautious not to apply too much product and if you are unsure it is best to work with a lower setting to avoid the risk of damage.

I already use the product as recommended. However we still have about 1/3 of the bag. Can i spread it over the lawn? It is over 7weeks from seeding. Can this fertiliser “damage” da lawn ( of course i will watering well)? What proportion i have to use?
Question by: Bobby on 14 May 2023, 06:32
Hi Bobby, thanks very much for your question.

Yes, you can continue to use this on the lawn throughout the summer. Just as long as you allow the 6 week window between applications and follow the recommended spreading rate - 70g per m2 and it is well watered. It will also last up to 4 years if stored somewhere cool and dry, so you can continue to use it next year if you wish.

How much fertilizer do I need to use? Sorry if this is noted somewhere on your web site, it is such an obvious first question any one would ask. But i could not see it.

For seeds you do note this, ie what size bag to buy for a certain sized lawn.
Question by: Ian on 10 Mar 2024, 06:18
The amount of fertiliser required will depend on the size of your lawn. If you want to email the measurements to [email protected], I can help?

I have a Scotts evergreen drop spreader - do you know what the settings would be to get the correct dosing for fertiliser prior to over seeding

Thanks

Unfortunately, I don't have the information for that spreader as we do not sell any. If you try to contact the manufacturer of that spreder they should be able to advise on a setting that would be suitable.
