I have a new build house that is now on it's 3rd rear lawn, the ground is clay contaminated, & i also have 2 dogs. Is the Clay master also hardy enough to resist dogs? or should i be using a different product?
Question by: Ian Ellis on 5 Apr 2023, 13:35
Thank you for your question.

If the area is predominantly clay then I would recommend the IMPRESS: Clay Master. It is a specially blended grass seed mixture designed for clay and heavy clay soil conditions. The tall fescue component has a strong deep rooting system which not only allows it to penetrate your clay soils effectively but ensures a drought tolerant lawn, especially in soils that are prone to dryness.

Similar to the FAMILY: Kids & Pets it also contains perennial ryegrass which makes way for a fast-growing and hard-wearing lawn.

Hi. I bought some Claymaster seed to sow and thought conditions were looking good towards the start of March. Little did I know we were about to have the wettest March for 45 years and all the grass seed got an absolute deluge of water, some sat under water for 24 hrs many times over. Is the seed likely to have survived this and is it still there, dormant, ready to spring into life? Or is it drowned, dead & gone? Thanks
Question by: Simon on 7 Apr 2023, 17:57
Hi there, thank you for your question. It is likely that some of the seed may have been moved due to the heavy rainfall. March was also quite cold and it may not have been ideal temperatures for sowing. We would recommend waiting a week or so, to see if anything germinates in certain areas. Then I would recommend overseeding the patches that the seed did not take/washed away. Hope this helps.

Hi. Those may be a duplicate; it's unclear if my first question reached you.
I sowed this seed (ClayMaster) at the start of March having followed all the advice e.g. moss killed, scarifier, top dressed etc) but didn't appreciate that March would be the wettest for 45 years. Some of the seed was inundated for 12-24hrs and all seed was very, very wet.

Do you think the seed will have survived? There's very little 'action'that I can see so far after at least 2 weeks. Thanks

Can I lay this grass seed now in these hot conditions and also I have a 3 year old do I need to keep him of the seeds whilst they are growing
Question by: Charlotte on 24 Jun 2023, 12:23
The grass sowing season is generally from March - September. You can confidently sow grass seed when temperatures are 8-10 degrees and above consistently for at least two weeks with no adverse weather conditions forecast. However, it can be difficult to sow during extreme high temperatures as the area can dry out quite quickly and the heat can have an adverse effect. if you do decide to sow now, keep the area well watered - twice a day during hotter weather.

We do recommend staying off the lawn until the grass established - at least first the first few weeks.

Question by: Mike Owers on 21 Oct 2023, 01:19
Hi there, thanks for your question. The recommended mowing height for this grass is 20 - 40mm.
Answer by: Andrew Clarke (Admin) on 23 Oct 2023, 10:50
How long does it take for the grass to be suitable for use once seeded.
Question by: Beccy on 31 Mar 2024, 20:14
Hi Beccy,

Thank you for your question. Once the grass is hitting heights of 5-7cm and has been down for 6-8 weeks it will be suitable to walk on. You should complete your first mow before then - raising your mower blades to the highest setting before gradually dropping down to a suitable setting for your lawn. For family, general use lawns we recommend 20-40mm. For fine lawns we recommend 10-20mm.

I hope this helps, if you have any other questions please email us at [email protected]

If I don't use all the grass seed this year, how long can it be stored for?
Question by: Donna on 10 Apr 2024, 13:14
Thank you for your question.

Our seed is all fresh so will be good for about 12 months, likely 18 in reality but the less time that passes the better!
Store it in a cool, dry place and away from pests and it will be fine.

Hello. I have a tough clay soil but I also have a dog. Which mix would you recommend, this clay soil mix or the family/pet oriented mixes? The area is only small, 25m2, and is generally in full sun. Thanks.
