FAMILY: Kids and Pets Grass Seed - All Questions

sort-ascending
I am about to reseed my lawn having killed it off due to an infestation of crabgrass. The poison has been down a good 3 weeks. I need to put some good quality soil as a top layer before I seed and have some slow release summer fertilizer. Is this something I can use before I seed my lawn and should I leave it for an amount of time
Question by: andy on 7 Jun 2021, 09:52
Hi Andy,

We do have a QUICK RELEASE: Pre Seed fertiliser. It provides the soil and seed with all the nutrients they need. It helps to create a great foundation for sowing new seed whilst strengthening existing grass. It will also help increase germination and establishing a strong root system. You should mow the lawn before applying it - the recommended spreading rate is 70g per m2. It is a granular fertiliser so will need to be watered in after it is applied. Once the granules are dissolved you are safe to seed.

Will this help with dog pee patches ?
Question by: Beryl Jarrett on 3 Jul 2021, 18:26
Hi Beryl, whilst this mix is great for overseeding any areas that have been damaged by dog urine, it's not completely immune to the effects of the urine, no grass seed is. We do have a blog post in our Help and Advice section on this very topic and may be worth a read. https://thegrasspeople.com/how-to-repair-dog-urine-patches/

Hi Linda

Whilst the seed is safe to seed we always recommend that you try and keep pets of the lawn until it has established.

Hi, I am looking to create a clover lawn mix, would this be suitable to mix with clover seed? Thanks
Question by: Natali on 6 Aug 2021, 11:32
Hi Natali, you can blend this mix if you wish. However, we do have a mix that contains white clover - Verges & Embankments.

I want to reseed my lawn ..would I be better leaving it to early spring?
Question by: Sarah Lea on 30 Oct 2021, 07:46
Hi Sarah, with temperatures dropping then you might best to wait if you haven't already sown the seed.

My garden has thinned out a lot this winter and mud seems very soggy. We have 3 dogs that aren't currently using the garden (due to muddy prints). Will the kids and pets mix be ok to help thicken up the grass and when would be the best time to over seed. Thank you.
Question by: Don Vickers on 27 Jan 2022, 07:30
Hi Don, FAMILY: Kids & Pets is a great mix for any lawns that see a lot of activity, due to its hardwearing properties. We would not recommend sowing seeds until Spring. The grass sowing season is generally from March - September. You can confidently sow grass seed when temperatures are 8-10 degrees and above consistently for at least two weeks with no adverse weather conditions forecast. Always consult a two week forecast prior to sowing.
