Why is the Higher Voluntary Standard label important?
The Higher Voluntary Standard (HVS) is the highest standard in the UK for grass seed. HVS is the highest level of seed quality set by the UK government and is of a higher standard than the European Union (EU) standard. Our grass seed is inspected and approved by our grass seed inspectors to ensure it meets the UK government’s HVS standard, and by choosing our grass seed, you will use the best quality of grass seed available.

Our seed meets the Higher Voluntary Standard (HVS)
Purchasing grass seed that meets the UK’s Higher Voluntary Standard ensures the seeds included in your seed mixture have the highest levels of purity, offer the best germination rates, and grow better than grass seed that doesn’t meet the HVS standard.
By buying grass seeds from us, you can be confident you will receive grass seeds that meet the Higher Voluntary Standard (HVS).
Since grass seed must have a purity rating of 96.5% to meet the Higher Voluntary Standard, our grass seed is grown under strict instructions within our own company. This attention to detail ensures that our seed is produced to the highest standards.
Our standards make it easy; if the seed doesn't meet the Higher Voluntary Standard, then we don't sell it!
In contrast, the European Union (EU) certification is a statutory certification throughout the whole of the EU that guarantees lower-quality standards for germination and purity. Many grass seeds commonly purchased in high-street shops and online web stores carry this certification. What this means is that grass seed with only the EU Certification will not offer the same growth as seed produced to the Higher Voluntary Standard (HVS).
