RESTORE: Self-Repair Lawn - All Questions

sort-ascending
We would like to try this product to restore our lawn. There is a mulberry tree at the bottom of the garden and the grass suffers under this. Would this product be suitable for a shady area?
Question by: Simon Knight on 25 Feb 2023, 09:49
Hi Simon,

This self-repairing grass seed is perfect for restoring a lawn since the Zurich creeping ryegrass will spread throughout any patches or dead spots to fill them in. However, if your mulberry tree casts a lot of shadow and is limiting grass growing beneath it, then our Steadfast: Shade or Steadfast: Ultra Shade would be ideal.

For dappled-shade throughout the day:

For continuous shade (ideal for use beneath a large tree, for example):

About 10 days on from sowing this seed along with some good topsoil for lawns none appears to have germinated. I've watered every couple of days and its been good weather. How long should it take? thanks
Question by: Ben Russell on 5 May 2023, 13:17
Hi Ben, normally you can expect to see germination within 7-10 days (with the right temperatures), however, the majority of this mix are fescues which like temperatures a little warmer than what we have at the min. It is likely that it will start to come through over the next week or two as temperatures start to rise. However, please feel free to send some photos of the area to [email protected] and we can take a look and make sure there is nothing else at play here.

Does your self-regenerating grass seed grow in clay soil, or would I need to add a generous layer of top soil prior to seeding?
Question by: Stuart Guiver on 9 May 2023, 18:48
Hi, thank you for your question.
The Restore Self-Repair Lawn will establish in clay soils, however if it is heavy clay soil then we would either recommend the IMPRESS: Clay Master or improving the quality of the soil.

Is this seed suitable to use at this time of year - late September/early October as you mentioned in another response that it likes warmer conditions to germinate?
Question by: Lesley Wynne on 23 Sept 2023, 08:21
Thank you for your question.

There is still time to sow this mix and it will germinate. However, we just like to highlight that because it predominantly consists of fescues, that it might be slightly slower to establish as this time of year.

My lawn is just a load of mud patches. Can your product fix this as nothing else has. Thanks
Question by: Tian on 8 Oct 2023, 19:53
You can overseed your lawn with any of our mixes. The RESTORE mix is great for lawns that need regular reseeding as the creeping zurich creates roots that spread across the lawn, so will fill in any gaps over time.

You can email [email protected] with pictures of your lawn and we can take a look and advise on the most suitable mix and how best to repair the lawn.

Is it too late to apply on a south facing lawn?
Question by: Michael Sheppard on 14 Oct 2023, 14:32
The grass sowing season is generally from March - September. You can confidently sow grass seed when temperatures are 8-10 degrees and above consistently for at least two weeks with no adverse weather conditions forecast. Always consult a two week forecast prior to sowing.

Hi there,

I have used a mixture of your Superstar back lawn and Steadfast Ultra shade last year, and it grew fantastic. However, In autumn - once the worm casts took over, the grass did not survive and I'm left with large areas of bare patches. Is the Restore grass harder wearing than the Ultra shade / superstar mix?

Many Thanks
Stewart
Question by: Stewart Roberts on 13 Feb 2024, 11:09
Hi Stewart, the RESTORE: Self Repair is a great mix but would not be as hard wearing or as shade tolerant than the SUPERSTAR: Back Lawn and the STEASDFAST: Ultra Shade

My son has been playing football in our garden and it’s worn it all down. What product would work best for this?
Question by: Gareth on 5 Mar 2024, 08:14
Hi, if your lawn gets a lot of use then we would recommend a more hardwearing mix like the FAMILY: Kids and Pets. It produces a hard wearing, lush and versatile lawn. It is 80% perennial ryegrass (hardwearing, fast growing) and 20% fescue which is finer leafed to create a lush sward. It will establish quite quickly and is easy to maintain.

Can you put to much seed or don't it matter
Question by: Jim hayes on 13 Apr 2024, 10:30
Good afternoon, we have recommended sowing rates which are 50g per m2, for a new lawn or 35g per m2 for overseeding a lawn. We advise that you stick to these guidelines as we have tried and tested them for the best results
