Product Description carrat-down

THRIVE: Sandy Soils will see your lawn flourish with its blend of 100% resilient fescues. The trio of fescue species in this mix stabilise quickly in weak and sandy soils to create a long-lasting sward with a strong root structure. Initially a slow-growing mix, once established, you can put reseeding to rest. This drought tolerant mix will thrive in the low nutrient soil conditions that are typical of sandy soils, whilst also creating a lush green lawn.

Our grass seed is tested to the highest levels of purity to ensure they provide excellent germination rates, and they are covered by our Grass Seed Growth Guarantee.

Product Questions

I am looking for a short growing grass that doesn’t need mowing and which does not grow in clumps.
Can you help me please
Question by: Jean johnson on 8 Oct 2020, 19:18
HI Jean

I would recommend Low Upkeep & Slow Grow Grass Seed, this is a mix of fine fescues and will result in a fine textured lawn that is hard wearing. slower to grow and can tolerate a close mow.

Thanks
Roisin

Sorry me again with the 1/4 acre... Forgot to mention, we have very sandy soil here and the earth has very little nutrients. We will not be topsoiling as the areas are just to large, but we will prepare the ground (removing stones/weeds etc) well. Thanks again

WHAT SEED DO I NEED FOR A LAWN ON CHALK WITH SOME SHADED LIGHT AREAS
Question by: John Laverty on 30 Sept 2022, 12:04
Hi John,

Thank you for your query.

Our Thrive: Sandy Soils mix would likely be the right mix in this case as it is a drought resistant mix made up of fescues which are drought resistant and can deal with minimal nutrients.

For the lightly shaded areas, the best option is our Steadfast: Shade mix.
However we would advise that the shaded mix is sown when the weather is warmer, in late spring and summer. Due to the lack of sunlight they rely heavily on the warmer temperatures to assist germination. These will be slower to establish than some of our other mixes but once grown you won't have to worry about those dark spots anymore.

Hi
I bought grass seed for sandy soil. It has been down for 11 days and there is no growth, will it grow or have I no chance now?
Question by: Mandy Kirk on 21 Oct 2020, 12:23
Hi Mandy

Thank you for our enquiry.

Germination can be a little slower at this time of year and it depends on the weather conditions where you are based. Ideally temperatures for germination need to be 8-10 degrees Celsius, if you have these sort of temperatures consistently for 2 weeks then the seeds should germinate.

The soil in my garden contains a lot of ash and dries out quickly., would the 'thrive' seed be suitable?
Question by: Mike Hooper on 17 Oct 2022, 17:49
Hi Mike, if you find that the soil is free draining then the THRIVE: Sandy Soils would be best suited. It is made up of fescues which are drought resistant and can deal with minimal nutrients.
Answer by: Roisin McCann on 18 Oct 2022, 07:28
I've never used a spreader for grass seed before.
I'm overseeding my lawn with your Thrive seed to try and erase the bare patches.
I have an EVERGREEN EASY Spreader+
Can you recommend the correct setting for the seed please?
Thank you
john
Question by: John on 9 May 2021, 10:38
Hi John, if you are overseeding then for the recommended 35g per m2 you would use setting 9 for 6 passes.
Answer by: Roisin McCann on 10 May 2021, 08:59
Will thrive stand salt spray
Question by: Keith Bellamy on 6 Sept 2023, 12:32
Thank you for your question.

Yes, our THRIVE: Sandy Soils mix consists of grass varieties that will tolerate salt spray and will establish in lawns that struggles to retain water and nutrients and will help create a drought tolerant lawn.
