QUICK RELEASE: Spring / Summer Fertiliser - All Questions

sort-ascending
Hi, going to scarify our lawn in March/ April but then looking to get fertiliser and a grass seed to overseed. Do I apply this and seed a mixed together in spreader or separate but in same day or so I leave a period between them?

Also do you do a moss killer?
Thanks
Question by: Steven Stewart on 19 Feb 2021, 20:18
Hi Steven

Apply the fertiliser first, this is a granular product and must be watered until fully dissolved. Once dissolved you can sow your seed. We also have a Pre Seed Fertiliser which may be an option.

We have a Feed, Weed & Mosskiller, it works over the course of two weeks to eradicate weeds and moss - where it is particularly prevalent patches will appear and these will need seeded. It will also feed your lawn and make any existing grass very green and lush. It is a granular fertiliser and needs to be watered in after application.

Hi - What setting should I use with an Evergreen Easy Spreader? Not sure if mine is Easy Spreader or Easy Spreader Plus, but do you have recommended settings for both please?
Question by: dave jepson on 15 Mar 2021, 15:01
Hi Dave

Whilst we can't be exactly sure as it is not our product. If it is the Easy Spreader Plus then you can try setting 4.5 for 2 passes. I can not find any details regarding a general "easy spreader".

Hi there - how soon after over-seeding can I put down some quick release Spring/Summer fertiliser? I now realise I should have probably done this before over-seeding, but I’m new to this! I just want to give the grass a boost before I settle in to an annual routine using slower release stuff later in the year. Thank you! Tom
Question by: Tom on 1 Apr 2021, 09:13
Hi Tom

Whilst you can apply after sowing,, there is a risk that if the new blades come up before the fertiliser has dissolved it could scorch them. If its's watered well and temperatures are cool enough then this risk is reduced. However, if you want to be extra careful then you could wait until the lawn is fully established, usually around 608 weeks after sowing.

Do you have settings for using a Scotts Drop Spreader?
Question by: Tony McElroy on 1 Apr 2021, 21:23
Hi Tony

Thank you for your question. Based on our own research setting 4 is usually a safe option however we would always advise that you contact Scotts directly to ensure that you have the best possible information to hand. There are a number of articles online that can give differing information, so our advice is to speak to them directly before proceeding.

If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask.

Hi... I seeded nearly 2 months ago (early march) seeds have germinated mostly still about 3-4cm. The cold spells have not been helpful.
Would it be ok to apply your spring quick release fertilizer to the grass now,? Or still wait?
Question by: Chiedu on 16 Apr 2021, 10:54
Hi Chiedu, normally after 8 weeks you could apply the fertiliser but due to the exceptionally low temperatures this year I would hold off for another 2/3 weeks. As the temperatures heat up over the next few weeks the grass will continue to establish and strengthen.

Hi I want to sow a new lawn. I have removed old grass and weeds and am just left with the soil. I have now added the quick release fertiliser. How long do I wait before I can sow the grass seeds?
I am conscious that I have a small window to sow seeds before the weather gets to warm?
Thanks
Eunice
Question by: Eunice Aidoo on 28 Apr 2021, 19:32
Hi Eunice

Once the fertiliser has dissolved, it is safe to seed. Sowing season is usually from March - September, so there is still time. Ideally temperatures for germination need to be 8-10 degrees Celsius, if you have these sort of temperatures consistently for 2 weeks then the seeds should germinate.

Best treatment for “Red Thread” please
Question by: Geoff Warrington on 8 Jul 2021, 09:16
We would recommend a nitrogen rich feed such as the QUICK RELEASE: Spring/Summer Fertiliser. A lack of nitrogen can encourage the fungus to spread so keeping on top of this will help clear the red thread and a regular feed will prevent it from returning. We do have a blog post on red thread, you will find it in our Help & Advice section and it be worth a read.

I have laid a new lawn this spring on clay soil, i fertilised prior to sowing the new lawn, the lawn has taken but is turning yellow in some patches, is it safe to fertilise again? Many thanks
Question by: Jenna biwhop on 30 Jul 2021, 21:09
Dog urine, particularly that of female dogs, is very high in nitrogen. This high nitrogen content burns your lawn (turning it yellow and dry). Use a quick release fertiliser such as our QUICK RELEASE: Spring / Summer on the rest of the lawn (avoiding the already very green patches) to achieve one uniform colour on the lawn.

Hi
I have a dog so instead of a granular feed for the lawn do you do a soluble one so I can put it on with a watering can
Question by: Jim gilbertson on 31 Jul 2021, 07:13
No, unfortunately our grass seeds are granular.

Trying to decide between the slow release and quick release, what are the key things I should think about picking between the two?
Question by: Bill smith on 28 Sept 2021, 11:03
Hi Bill, the main difference is the length of time the fertiliser will protect the garden. If it is the Autumn Winter fertiliser you are considering then you are in good time for the Slow Release option, this will release nutrients at more controlled rate and protect the lawn for up to 16 weeks. If it is a Spring/Summer and you want to give the area a quick boost before winter sets in then I would recommend the Quick Release option as this works over a period of 6 weeks.
